The Stranger/ The Hydradic I

Created as a work of inquiry in relation to the content presented in a chapter in my doctoral dissertation, see pages 31-50, which was successfully defended on May 29, 2009 at the University of British Columbia. This piece was sold at the Vending Machine Show at BYU in October 2009. Proceeds were donated to the United Way. This piece also provoked a workshop at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale through the Visiting Artist Program on April 19-20, 2010.

Paper Dresses

Created with Tyvek, graphite and thread, in collaboration with Cassandra Barney. Shown at Mode in Provo, Utah (Curated by Ryan Neely); The Towson ARTS Collective in Maryland (Clothing: Fantasies & Realities, curated by Kelly Cobb); and used as promotional material for a workshop and lecture at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum in Logan Utah.

These embroidered images show how little phrases and beliefs interact with things in life that keep me going, making life worthwhile. The drawings are all embroidered on recycled cotton sheets salvaged from dorm rooms. The sayings come from fortune cookies that I have collected over the years.
